Teen Dating Violence can be physical, emotional, sexual:

Teen Dating Violence is abuse by a person in your family that you would with now or have lived with in the past or someone you have a child with.

  •  Physical violence - hitting, slapping, punching, burning, etc.
  •  Emotional/verbal abuse - threats, name calling, put-downs
  •  Neglect - not giving sufficient food, clothing or healthcare

Dating Advice for Teenagers

Most First Dates Can Go Great!

  • Date people you know and trust
  • Be extra careful about meeting people online
  • Talk to your parents
  • Know your limits and communicate them
  • Avoid drugs and alcohol
  • Get out, don't hang out
Even if you know your partner is charming and sweet at first,
look out for signs that he/she might be abusive such as:
  1. Extreme jealousy
  2. Controlling behavior
  3. Explosive anger or mood swings
  4. Isolates you from family and friends
  5. Verbal abuse
  6. Use threats of harm against you or your family
  7. Cruelty towards animals and children
  8. Blaming others for problems
